LM Studio MCP Setup on Mac
Give a local model running in LM Studio direct access to your Mac apps — Mail, Calendar, Contacts, iMessage, Teams and 233 tools through one local MCP server. Both the model and your data stay on your Mac.

LM Studio runs LLMs locally and supports MCP servers, so your on-device model can act on your real apps through LMCP — a fully local stack, nothing leaves your Mac:
- “Summarize my unread emails”
- “What’s on my calendar today?”
- “Find the iMessage where Ana sent the address”
Setup
- Download LMCP and run the installer (menu bar). It runs the MCP server locally.
- In LM Studio, open the Program / MCP settings and add an MCP server: command
npx, argumentlocal-mcp(a thin proxy that connects to the LMCP app on your Mac). - Load a tool-capable model and ask about your Mail, Calendar or Teams. macOS prompts for each permission the first time it’s needed.
Privacy
This is as local as it gets: LM Studio runs the model on your Mac, and LMCP reads your apps on-device over a local socket. Nothing is uploaded; anything the model wants to send is preview-and-confirm.
