Send Email with AI on Mac
Let your AI assistant compose and send real emails from Mail.app on your Mac. Plain text or HTML, from any configured account. Local, private, no API keys.
The send_email tool lets your AI assistant compose and send a real email straight from Mail.app on your Mac. It supports plain text or HTML bodies, and you can pass a from address to send from a specific configured Mail.app account. Because LMCP runs locally, the AI uses your actual signed-in accounts — no SMTP setup, no API keys, no copy-pasting drafts.
A natural prompt looks like this: "Email [email protected] to confirm our 3pm call tomorrow, keep it short and friendly, and send it from my work account." The assistant drafts the message, picks the right account, and sends it through Mail.app exactly as if you'd typed it yourself.
Which AI agents work?
LMCP exposes send_email to every major MCP-capable assistant:
- Desktop clients — Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Windsurf and Zed auto-configure through a local stdio connection. Install LMCP, restart the client, and the tool appears.
- Web AIs — ChatGPT, Claude.ai (web), Grok and Perplexity connect through the LMCP Cloud Relay connector, which securely bridges the web assistant to the server running on your Mac.
Either way, the email is composed and sent locally by Mail.app on your machine.
Automation
send_email becomes powerful when chained with the other 150+ tools LMCP provides. For example, the AI can read your latest emails, find the one that needs a reply, look up the sender in Contacts, check your Calendar for a free slot, and then send a confirmation — all in one prompt. Or it can pull a summary from a Note or an Excel file and email it to your team. Because every tool runs on the same local data, these multi-step workflows happen without leaving your Mac.
Context
The assistant isn't guessing or working from a generic template. It sees your real configured Mail.app accounts, your actual contacts, your real calendar and your existing message history. That means it can choose the correct sending account, address the right person, match the tone of an ongoing thread, and reference real details — the kind of context that turns a robotic draft into an email you'd actually send.
Productivity
Writing routine emails — confirmations, follow-ups, intros, status updates — eats up a surprising amount of the day. With send_email, you describe the intent in one sentence and the AI handles the wording, formatting and account selection. A task that used to mean switching apps, finding the address, drafting, and proofreading collapses into a single prompt. Multiply that across a dozen messages a day and you reclaim real time.
Privacy & GDPR
Everything happens on your Mac. send_email drives Mail.app locally using your own accounts — LMCP never uploads your email content, contacts or credentials to any server, and nothing is stored in the cloud. There are no API keys to hand over to a third party. This local-first design makes LMCP GDPR-compliant by architecture: your data simply never leaves the device. Download LMCP to get started for free.
