The servicenow_search_kb tool lets your AI assistant search your ServiceNow Knowledge Base for articles directly from your Mac. Instead of logging into the ServiceNow portal and wrestling with its search box, you ask in plain English and get the relevant KB articles back in seconds. For example, you can type: "Search the ServiceNow KB for articles about resetting a VPN password" and the assistant returns matching knowledge articles with their titles and content so you can act on them right away.

It is a read-only tool, so it only retrieves and reads articles — it never edits or deletes anything in your ServiceNow instance. That makes it safe to use freely while you research, troubleshoot, or write up answers for end users.

LMCP is a free, native macOS MCP server with 150+ tools. It connects your AI assistant to your real Mac apps and services locally — no API keys to paste, no cloud middleman, nothing stored on a server. Download LMCP to get started.

Which AI agents work?

Most popular AI assistants can use servicenow_search_kb through LMCP:

  • Desktop clients — Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Windsurf and Zed auto-configure via local stdio. LMCP wires itself in and the tool appears automatically.
  • Web AIs — ChatGPT, Claude.ai (web), Grok and Perplexity connect through the LMCP Cloud Relay connector, so they can reach your Mac securely without any local config.

Automation

The real power comes from chaining tools together. Because the AI sees ServiceNow alongside the rest of your Mac, it can run multi-step workflows in one prompt:

  • Search the KB for a fix, then draft and send an email to the requester with the answer.
  • Find a relevant article, then create a reminder or calendar event to follow up on the incident.
  • Pull KB content and paste a summary into a Note or a Slack/Teams message to your team.

You describe the outcome; the assistant orchestrates the steps.

Context

The AI works with your real data, not a stale export. servicenow_search_kb queries your live ServiceNow Knowledge Base, so the articles you get back reflect what is actually published in your instance. Combined with the rest of LMCP's 150+ tools, the assistant has the same context you do — your mail, calendar, contacts, messages and documents — which means answers are grounded in your actual work, not generic guesses.

Productivity

A typical KB lookup means opening the portal, signing in, guessing at search keywords, and skimming results. With this tool you skip all of that — ask once, get the article. For a support agent handling dozens of tickets a day, shaving a minute or two off every lookup adds up to real time saved. And because the AI can read the article and immediately turn it into a reply or a ticket note, you stay in one place instead of copying text between tabs.

Privacy & GDPR

Everything runs locally on your Mac. LMCP talks to ServiceNow on your behalf using your own session — your queries and the articles they return are never copied to an LMCP server or any third-party cloud. There is no data store, no logging of your content, and nothing leaves your machine except the request to your own ServiceNow instance. This local-first design makes LMCP GDPR-compliant by architecture: the data simply never goes anywhere it shouldn't.
