Look Up a Microsoft 365 Person with AI on Mac
Use AI to fetch a person's Microsoft 365 directory details by email or user ID on your Mac. Local, private, no API keys. Works with Claude, ChatGPT and more.
The get_m365_person tool lets your AI assistant pull detailed information about a specific person in your Microsoft 365 directory, looked up by their user ID or email address. Instead of opening the Microsoft 365 admin center or Outlook contact card, you just ask in plain language. For example, type: "Get the Microsoft 365 profile for [email protected]" and the assistant returns the person's display name, job title, department, office location, mobile and business phone, and other directory attributes available in your tenant.
This is a read-only tool, so it never modifies your directory. It simply surfaces what is already in Microsoft 365 (Graph) and hands it back to the AI in a structured form it can reason over.
LMCP is a free, native macOS MCP server. It connects AI assistants to your real Mac apps and accounts locally. There are no API keys to paste, nothing is routed through a third-party cloud, and nothing is stored on a server. Download LMCP to get started.
Which AI agents work?
LMCP exposes get_m365_person to every major AI client through the Model Context Protocol:
- Desktop clients — Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Windsurf and Zed auto-configure over a local stdio connection. No copy-paste setup.
- Web AIs — ChatGPT, Claude.ai (web), Grok and Perplexity connect through the LMCP Cloud Relay connector, which securely bridges the web assistant to your Mac.
Once connected, the assistant sees all 150+ LMCP tools, including this one.
Automation
The real power comes when get_m365_person chains with other tools. Your AI can resolve a name from an email thread, look up that person's directory profile, then pull their manager or reports, draft an email to them, schedule a meeting on your calendar, or cross-reference them against your Microsoft 365 directory search. A single prompt like "Find the head of marketing in our directory and put 30 minutes on my calendar with them next week" becomes a multi-step workflow the AI runs end to end.
Context
Because LMCP runs on your Mac with your signed-in Microsoft 365 account, the AI works with your real, live organizational data — not a stale export or a guess. Job titles, departments and contact details reflect your actual tenant. That accuracy means the assistant's answers and follow-up actions are grounded in the same directory your colleagues see.
Productivity
Hunting down a colleague's title, department, or direct line normally means switching to Outlook, the admin center, or pinging someone on Teams. With get_m365_person the answer arrives inline in the conversation you are already having with your AI — in seconds, without breaking focus. Over a week of looking people up, drafting intros, and routing requests to the right team, that adds up to real time saved and far less context switching.
Privacy & GDPR
Everything runs locally on your Mac. The directory lookup happens through your own Microsoft 365 session, and the results flow straight to your AI client — no copy is kept on any LMCP server, and nothing is sent to a third-party cloud for storage. This local-first design makes LMCP GDPR-compliant by architecture: personal data from your directory never leaves your control.
