The m365_reply_email tool lets your AI assistant draft and send a reply to any Microsoft 365 (Outlook / Exchange Online) email straight from a chat. You point it at a message by its ID, describe what you want to say, and the AI writes the reply. It always shows you a preview first — nothing leaves your mailbox until you set confirm=true to send.

A typical prompt looks like this:

• "Reply to the last email from Sarah about the Q3 budget — tell her the numbers look good and I'll send the signed PDF tomorrow."

The AI finds the message, composes a reply in your voice, and shows it to you. You read it, say "send it," and it goes out from your real Microsoft 365 account. No copy-pasting into Outlook, no switching windows.

Which AI agents work?

Pretty much every major AI client works with LMCP:

• Desktop clients — Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Windsurf and Zed auto-configure through a local stdio connection. No tokens, no setup files to hand-edit.
• Web AIs — ChatGPT, Claude.ai (web), Grok and Perplexity connect through the LMCP Cloud Relay connector, which securely bridges the web assistant to the server running on your Mac.

Whichever you use, the email reply is sent locally from your own machine.

Replying is rarely a standalone action — it's the end of a chain. m365_reply_email pairs naturally with the rest of the Microsoft 365 toolset:

• Use m365_list_emails or m365_search_emails to find the thread, then reply to the right message ID.
• Use m365_read_email so the AI has the full context of what it's responding to.
• Chain with Calendar tools — "reply confirming the meeting and add it to my calendar" — in a single request.
• Combine with OneDrive or Office docs tools to reference or attach the file you just created.

Context
