How LMCP sets up Claude Desktop — Mac: the installer sets it up if this version of LMCP supports it, and the LMCP menu shows its state · Windows: the installer sets it up if this version of LMCP supports it, and the LMCP menu shows its state

What this lets you do

LMCP executes local tools on your device. Cloud AI providers and connected services can receive requested data; their terms apply.

  • “Summarize my unread emails and draft replies to the urgent ones”
  • “What did the team discuss in Teams today?”
  • “Find a free slot next week and schedule a meeting with Maria”
  • “Read my last iMessage thread with Sarah and remind me to follow up”

Setup — 3 steps, no config files

  1. Download LMCP and run the installer — signed and notarized (macOS 13+, Apple Silicon & Intel). The onboarding wizard opens automatically.
  2. Open LMCP from the menu bar. It detects Claude Desktop and configures it automatically — the MCP entry is written for you; there is no claude_desktop_config.json to edit.
  3. Restart Claude Desktop once. The tools appear under the 🔨 icon — ask anything about your Mail, Calendar or Teams.

macOS will prompt for the permissions each feature needs (Calendar, Contacts, Full Disk Access for Mail and iMessage) the first time Claude uses them — grant only what you want Claude to reach.
