LMCP plugin for Codex
The LMCP plugin for Codex adds LMCP, a local MCP server, and a set of skills to Codex. Codex can then work with the apps on your own Mac or Windows PC, such as Mail, Calendar, files and Office documents, with tools that run on your computer.
What the plugin bundles
- The entry that starts the LMCP MCP server, so there is no config.toml block to write.
- Skills that tell Codex how to use LMCP for email, calendar, messages, team chat and files.
- Not the LMCP app: install it first, because the tools run there.
Install the LMCP plugin for Codex
- Download and install the LMCP app on your Mac (macOS 13+) or Windows PC (Windows 10+, 64-bit).
- In a terminal, with the Codex CLI, run these two commands:
codex plugin marketplace add colibird-ai/local-mcp-releases
codex plugin add local-mcp@local-mcpCheck it with codex plugin list: it shows local-mcp@local-mcp, installed and enabled. Then restart Codex; MCP tools load at startup.
What it can do on Mac and on Windows
The plugin is the same on both systems; what Codex can reach depends on the apps LMCP supports on each one.

Each app, with how it connects and its limits, is on the integrations page.
