Frequently Asked Questions
Do Outlook and Teams on Windows need the Microsoft Graph API?
Outlook does not: LMCP reads and writes it through COM automation. Teams does: it goes through Microsoft Graph with the work or school Microsoft 365 account you connect once, for reading and for sending.
Does Claude's official Microsoft 365 connector work with my personal Outlook or Hotmail account?
No. Anthropic's official connector requires a Microsoft Entra business or school tenant; personal accounts (@outlook.com, @hotmail.com) aren't supported. LMCP works with the Outlook already signed in on your PC, personal or work.
Do I need my company's IT admin to approve this?
Not for LMCP's local Outlook tools. Teams uses Microsoft Graph with your own signed-in account, and reading channel messages can require an administrator to approve a permission. Anthropic's official connector does require one: a Microsoft Entra Global Administrator must consent once for the whole tenant before anyone can connect.
