Connect ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Grok or Perplexity to your computer
Connecting takes two things: the URL below — the same for everyone, with no credential inside — and one approval on your computer. LMCP has to be running with web AI access on: that is where the approval window opens when the AI connects.
LMCP has to be running for this to work: open its tray icon and make sure web AI access is on.
LMCP runs the tools on your computer. Cloud AI providers and connected services can receive requested data; their terms apply.
The URL you paste

Verified 17 September 2026.
Steps
- A desktop browser at chatgpt.com — the connector can't be created from the mobile or desktop apps. First turn on Developer mode: Settings → Security and login → Developer mode. On workspace plans an admin must enable connectors first
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and click the “+” button at the top right (Settings → Plugins → “Browse plugins” takes you there)
- Name it “LMCP” and paste the URL below as the Server URL. Authentication stays on “OAuth” — that's already the default. Switching it to “None” gets you a connector that lists the tools but can't run them
https://www.local-mcp.com/mcp - Tick “I understand and want to continue” and click Create. That only registers it — you are NOT connected yet
- Click “Sign in with LMCP” and approve in the dialog that opens on your Mac. If no dialog shows up, or it says LMCP isn't running, the approval simply expired — it lasts 5 minutes — so try again; nothing needs reinstalling
- Open a new chat and enable LMCP from the “+” menu — the tools show up there
Start a new chat to see the tools. If the AI doesn't list them, reopen the connector and connect again — the approval expires after five minutes.
Claude.ai
Verified 17 September 2026.
Steps
- Claude.ai (Pro/Max) → Settings → Customize → Connectors. On Team/Enterprise an owner must add it first from Organization settings → Connectors
- Tap “+” → “Add custom connector”. Name it “LMCP” and paste the URL below as the remote MCP server URL
https://www.local-mcp.com/mcp - Tap “Add”. That only registers it — you are NOT connected yet
- Find LMCP in the list and tap “Connect”. Approve in the dialog that opens on your Mac
- Start a new chat — the tools show up there
Start a new chat to see the tools. If the AI doesn't list them, reopen the connector and connect again — the approval expires after five minutes.
Grok
Verified 17 September 2026.
Steps
- Go to grok.com/connectors
- “New Connector” → “Custom”
- Name it “LMCP” and paste the URL below
https://www.local-mcp.com/mcp - Tap “Add” — Grok connects and discovers the tools right away, with no authorization step
Start a new chat to see the tools. If the AI doesn't list them, reopen the connector and connect again — the approval expires after five minutes.
Perplexity
We have not verified these steps end to end (it needs a paid plan). Last checked 17 September 2026.
Steps
- Needs a paid plan (Pro/Max/Enterprise) — the free plan has no such option. Go to Perplexity → Settings → Connectors. Comet doesn't support custom connectors: use the web or desktop app
- Add a custom MCP connector
- Approve the connection in the window LMCP opens on your computer. There is nothing else to paste and no credential to copy.
https://www.local-mcp.com/mcp - Save — enable LMCP in a new thread
Start a new chat to see the tools. If the AI doesn't list them, reopen the connector and connect again — the approval expires after five minutes.
If it doesn't connect
Check that LMCP is running on your computer and that web AI access is on. If the AI still lists no tools, remove the connector and add it again to force a fresh discovery.
