Manage Microsoft To Do with Claude on Windows — No Azure AD
Let Claude, Cursor, VS Code or ChatGPT read, create, and complete your Microsoft To Do tasks on Windows. No Azure AD app registration, no Graph API, no OAuth.
To let Claude manage your Microsoft To Do tasks on Windows, install LMCP — a free local MCP server that reads and writes your task lists through the same Outlook COM automation LMCP's Outlook tools use, since Microsoft To Do integrates directly with Outlook on Windows. There is no Azure AD app registration and no Graph API.
What You Can Do
- List tasks — see everything across your default and custom lists
- List your task lists and folders — see how your tasks are organized
- Create a task — add a new task with a title and details
- Complete a task — mark it done
How to Install
Download LMCP for Windows and install it:
- Run the downloaded
LMCP-Setup.exefrom your Downloads folder - Follow the installer — no admin rights needed, it installs to your user folder
- LMCP starts automatically and appears in your system tray
Takes about 30 seconds. Your AI clients are configured automatically.
Make sure classic desktop Outlook is installed and signed in — Microsoft To Do tasks are managed through the same interface as Outlook mail and calendar on Windows.
Example Prompts
- “What's on my Microsoft To Do list?” — lists your tasks
- “Create a task to follow up with the Henderson account by Friday” — adds it to your list
- “Mark the ‘send invoice’ task as done” — completes it
- “Can Claude read my Microsoft To Do list on Windows?” — yes, directly, no separate app to connect
Real-World Workflow
Turn email into tasks
Go through my Outlook inbox from today, find anything that looks like a task or commitment I made, and create a Microsoft To Do entry for each one.
Because LMCP also reads your Outlook inbox, your AI can turn commitments buried in email into a real task list in one prompt.
LMCP also connects your AI assistant to Outlook email, Outlook Calendar and Microsoft Teams on Windows. See the full list of guides or learn more at local-mcp.com.
Limitations
- Requires classic desktop Outlook — the new Outlook app does not expose the COM interface these tools use, the same requirement as LMCP's Outlook email and calendar tools.
- No delete tool — tasks can be listed, created, and completed; deleting a task is not currently supported.
