Connect WhatsApp
LMCP links WhatsApp on your Mac or Windows PC with a QR code your AI shows right in the chat. No Terminal and no API key: your phone links it from Linked Devices.
Link WhatsApp
- Install LMCP on your Mac or Windows PC and connect your AI app to it.
- Ask your AI to connect WhatsApp. It runs whatsapp_connect, says what it will do and, once you confirm, shows a QR code in the chat.
- On your phone, open WhatsApp → Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device, and scan the QR code.
- Ask your AI to list your WhatsApp chats to check the link works.
On Windows you can also link it from the LMCP system tray icon: its WhatsApp row opens the page with the QR code. Either way, LMCP then appears in your phone’s list of linked devices. WhatsApp may restrict accounts that misuse linked devices.
Re-link WhatsApp
If you removed LMCP from Linked Devices on your phone, or WhatsApp ended the session, ask your AI to connect WhatsApp again and scan the new QR code. With more than one account, name the one to re-link: your AI finds it with whatsapp_list_accounts.
Check the link with whatsapp_diagnose
Ask your AI to “check my WhatsApp connection”. It runs whatsapp_diagnose, which reports the linked number, the last sync and a link state:

Does connecting WhatsApp work the same on Mac and Windows?
Yes. whatsapp_connect and whatsapp_diagnose are on both, with the same QR code in the chat and the same steps on your phone.
Do I need the Terminal or an API key?
No. The QR code appears in the chat with your AI, and your phone links LMCP from Linked Devices, like WhatsApp Web.
Can I link more than one WhatsApp account?
Yes. Ask your AI to add another WhatsApp account: whatsapp_connect with add_account shows a new QR code, scanned from that account’s phone.
How do I re-link WhatsApp?
Ask your AI to connect WhatsApp again and scan the new QR code. For one of several accounts, name it: whatsapp_connect re-links an account listed by whatsapp_list_accounts.
WhatsApp shows “not connected”. Is the link broken?
Not necessarily. A linked session is disconnected most of the time and reconnects when needed. Ask your AI to run whatsapp_diagnose and read its link state: only not_linked and linked_session_lost need a new QR code.
