thunderbird_send_email

Thunderbird · macOS · Windows

Effect: send (strongest supported action). Status: gated.

Gated means the tool requires an installed app, a connected account, permission, or runtime availability. Check those requirements on the listed platform before using it.

macOS

Purpose

Sends a plain-text message from one Thunderbird account, through that account's own outgoing mail server, with the password the user stored for it in Local MCP (thunderbird_connect says which accounts are ready). The first call returns a preview with sender, recipients, subject and body, and connects to nothing; confirm=true sends. For an IMAP account a copy is filed in its Sent folder, and the result says whether that worked. No attachments. An account that signs in through its provider (Google, Microsoft and others) cannot send this way.

Required inputs

Permissions and confirmation

Explicit confirmation parameter: inspect the schema and tool description before any real call. The documentation example keeps confirm false. Obtain user authorization before performing the action.
