LMCP as a plugin or a connector, by AI client

LMCP is one MCP server, and each AI client has its own word and install path for it. Install the LMCP app first: its tools run on your computer.

The LMCP plugin for Claude Code

Run these two commands inside Claude Code, then restart it:

/plugin marketplace add colibird-ai/local-mcp-claude-plugin
/plugin install local-mcp@local-mcp

colibird-ai/local-mcp-claude-plugin

About the LMCP plugin for Claude Code

The LMCP plugin for Codex

Run these two commands in a terminal, then restart Codex:

codex plugin marketplace add colibird-ai/local-mcp-releases
codex plugin add local-mcp@local-mcp

colibird-ai/local-mcp-releases

About the LMCP plugin for Codex

The LMCP plugin for Cursor

The plugin (the MCP server, a rule and skills) is the public repository below. The shortest path skips that step: the LMCP installer adds LMCP to Cursor, and you enable local-mcp in Cursor’s MCP settings.

LMCP in ChatGPT: add it from Plugins

As of 2026, ChatGPT adds custom MCP apps from Plugins. LMCP connects there as a remote connector, through the Cloud Relay:

chatgpt.com → Plugins → Add → Create MCP App

LMCP in Claude.ai and Claude Desktop: a connector

In Claude’s chat apps LMCP is a connector, and Claude Desktop can also install it as a desktop extension.

claude.ai → Settings → Customize → Connectors
